Why launch week matters
On a freshly opened private server everyone starts from zero, so the first days set the leaderboards, the economy and the guilds. A good launch plan lets you pick up a lead cheaply; a poor one burns time on a server that closes or on a race you could not win. The same principles hold on a new MU Online realm, a Lineage 2 opening or a Travian round.
This guide is for players. It explains how launches are structured and how to spend the first week, using launch announcements from servers we researched. If you are choosing between several openings, our selection guide and the private servers directory will help you narrow the list.
How launches are structured
Most servers follow a pattern: a closed or open beta, a countdown to a grand opening, then ongoing events and sometimes a reset or merge. Dates and times are usually announced on the site and in Discord, often with a specific time zone.
| Server | Game | Documented launch detail |
|---|---|---|
| Florentia Chronicles | Flyff | Seven-day closed beta ended 26 September; official launch planned for 2 October 2026 |
| CirrusRO | Ragnarok | Open beta began 11 July, official launch 18 July 2026 |
| L2SET | Lineage 2 | High Five x55 launched 11 September at 18:00 GMT+3 after beta |
| StoriMS | MapleStory | Pre-launch week with a donation-point bonus, official launch 4 September at 17:00 |
| Travia.lt | Travian | Pre-season at x20 speed with launch countdown to 12 December 2026 at 19:00 Lithuanian time |
| Nappy2 | Metin2 | Launch 5 June 2026, 5,000 DR coins for beta testers |
| Spy Games | OGame | Capella universe launched 7 September 2026 |
Notice the variety: some servers launch in beta first, some run a separate pre-season, and some reward testers. Read the announcement carefully for three things: whether the beta wipes, what time zone the opening uses, and whether pre-launch purchases carry over.
Three launch types and how to play each
Permanent opening vs seasonal reset
Permanent opening
- Characters stay indefinitely
- A fast start still matters, but there is no deadline
- Late joiners compete with veterans over time
- Plan for a long grind
Seasonal reset
- Everyone restarts on a schedule
- Speed and planning count for the most
- Gear and rank often reset
- Plan to peak by the season end
Resets are common. Deuteria, an OGame server, scheduled a soft reset for 20 October 2026 at 06:00 UTC that restarts everyone from one new home planet while keeping accounts, dark matter, talents, officers, relics, class and honour. Forever Lineage's latest season reset on 11 September lowered the rates from x75 to x25 XP and SP, with everyone starting from zero. Project Diablo 2 resets its ladder roughly every six months, and Slashdiablo about every four.
| Style | Example | What carries over |
|---|---|---|
| Soft reset | Deuteria (OGame) | Accounts, dark matter, talents, officers |
| Season reset with new rates | Forever Lineage | Nothing, all start at zero |
| Ladder reset | Project Diablo 2, Slashdiablo | Ladder characters move to non-ladder |
| Event realm and merge | Metin2 Astrallia into Stellaria | Merge date announced in advance |
A first-week plan
- 1
Before launch: read and register
Create your account, download the client early and join the Discord. Download only from the server's own site, as explained in the safety guide.
- 2
Day 1: do not chase the first hour
The opening hour is crowded, and crashes and rollbacks are common. A steady first day often beats a frantic one.
- 3
Days 2 to 3: pick a lane
Choose guild, class or build while the economy is cheap and the bugs are still being found.
- 4
Days 4 to 7: watch the staff
Fast fixes and honest announcements show whether the server will last.
- 5
End of week one: decide on spending
Only now consider the shop. See our rates guide for what the numbers mean.
The first week is also when you decide whether the server deserves your long-term attention. Keep a short note of what you see: how quickly staff answered questions, how many players were online at different hours, and whether announcements matched what happened. After seven days you will have a better basis for the decision than any launch trailer provides, and you can compare it against other openings listed on the hubs.
- Florentia closed beta
- 7 days
- CirrusRO beta to launch
- 7 days
- L2SET opening time
- 18:00 GMT+3

Timing and time zones
Opening times are usually quoted in one time zone, and mistakes cost players their place. L2SET quoted GMT+3, Travia.lt quoted Lithuanian time and Deuteria quoted UTC. Convert the time once, set a calendar reminder and note any pre-launch check-in such as client updates. Missing the opening by an hour matters little on a permanent realm, but on a race server with a prize pool, like Travia.lt's 550 euro prize, it can decide the result.
| Task | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Convert the opening time to your zone | Avoids joining late or too early |
| Download and test the client | Large clients can take hours, and servers often crash on day one |
| Join the Discord and read pinned posts | Rules, bugs and hotfix notes appear there first |
| Plan your first build | Class and skill choices are cheaper to make before the rush |
| Set a spending limit | Launch bonuses are designed to feel urgent |
On long-running servers the same logic applies at a smaller scale. A new season on an established project, such as the Void Conquer season that began on 15 October with all gear equalised to plus 8, is a launch in all but name, and the Conquer Online hub tracks several such openings.
Warning signs around launches
Launches are also when mistakes and scams concentrate. A site like Crusader Trav's showed a new server starting soon with eight active players when we checked, a reminder that rounds can be small. MythPW's page still advertised a 7 November 2025 opening date long after, so the site was partly stale and the timeline was unclear. Neither is necessarily bad, but both are reasons to confirm that a launch is real before you invest.
- No dates, only 'coming soon', for weeks.
- Repeated postponements with no explanation.
- Pre-registration that asks for money rather than an email.
- Several relaunches under new names. See building a server community for what stable teams do differently.
- A shop that opens before the server does.
If several servers open in the same week, pick one to focus on rather than splitting your time. A launch rewards commitment, and the players who finish ahead are usually the ones who were online for the quiet hours too, not only the opening rush.
Because any server can close, treat launch investment as entertainment spending, not a stake. The wipes guide explains how resets change what your effort is worth, and the glossary defines terms such as beta wipe, soft reset and merge.
