About Darkan

Darkan is a non-profit, open-source project that rebuilds the 2012 state of RuneScape rather than the Old School branch. Its lobby server supports several worlds at once. World 1 aims to follow the game as it was in 2012, covering skills, quests and minigames, while World 2 is a faster variant with 25x experience, a supply shop and slayer portals.

The project states that it has no in-game purchases and no advantages for sale, and the source code is published on GitLab so anyone can read how the server works. Players download a client from the site, log in with a site account and can check highscores and an adventurer's log on the web. Because it targets an older RuneScape 3-era game rather than OSRS, it suits players who remember that period, and developers who want to study or host a server of their own.

Staff and community talk happens on the project Discord, which had a few hundred members online at the time of checking.
