What is a Tibia private server?

Tibia is a 2D tile-based fantasy MMORPG from CipSoft, released in January 1997 and one of the longest-running online RPGs. Open Tibia servers (OTS) are community-run worlds built on reverse-engineered server software, usually played with the official or custom clients. They exist to offer rates, features, custom maps and old protocol versions that the official game does not. The scene is large: a directory showed 630 servers at the time of research, spanning retro 7.x, the common 8.60, and custom evolutions with mobile clients, led by Brazilian and Polish communities.

Launch and update calendar

A fresh launch brings people but also risk. These dates are all taken from server sites, and they show how many projects started within a few weeks of each other.

Custom RPG and EVO servers add systems that official Tibia lacks. They define the long-term loop, so read them before you commit.

Pitfalls specific to this scene

• Memoria Online's site shows a browser safety warning that it describes as a false positive, so verify the download source yourself.
• Cyleria's Discord invite on its site was invalid when we checked, and Evolunia exposes none, so we list no Discord for them.
• OTLand says it has no official server list or Discord, so impersonators exist.
• Some sites do not state rates on the front page, such as Cyleria and Louco Serv.
• Brand-new launches have small communities: Rayvin and TibiaNU had Discords of roughly 140 and 120 members at our check, so groups and trades take longer to find.

Age and community size

How long a server has been online is a useful proxy for stability, though not a guarantee. These figures are as stated on the sites.

Size is not the only signal. Cyleria and Eloria describe long-term, no-reset play, which suits players who want their time to last, while Oxygen runs seasons with changelogs for each patch. Match the reset policy to how much time you can give.

A private server is software that re-implements the game's back end so the official or a patched client can connect to it. For Tibia the common building blocks are The Forgotten Server (TFS), Canary, OTServBR. Servers are listed with an IP and port 7171.
