The classes you can pick
Conquer Online is a free-to-play MMORPG set in an ancient Eastern world, developed by TQ Digital and launched in 2003. Its class system is simple at the start and grows with the client patch, so the answer to "how many classes are there" depends on which patch a server runs. To compare servers by patch, open the Conquer Online private servers list.
This page sticks to what server sites state about their own class lists. It covers the four classic classes, the Taoist split, rebirth, and the later classes added in newer patches. Unfamiliar words are in the glossary.

Trojan, Warrior, Archer, Taoist
Fire or Water, chosen at level 40
| Class | What the sources say |
|---|---|
| Trojan | Melee class that dual-wields weapons; listed signature skills are Cyclone, Hercules and Golem |
| Warrior | Named in every classic list; counted among the rebirth options on TQ Twin City |
| Archer | Named in every classic list; counted among the rebirth options on TQ Twin City |
| Taoist | Chooses Fire or Water at level 40, according to Aurenfall |
None of the server pages we checked rank the classes against each other, and balance depends on the patch, the gear cap and the rates. For that reason this page does not name a best class. If you need a recommendation, join the server's Discord, ask which class the active guilds recruit, and compare it with your preferred playstyle: close-range damage, ranged damage or magic.
Rebirth and the Taoist split
Rebirth is the system that lets a maxed character start again in a new form. On Aurenfall, players reach the cap, complete a trial called the CelestialStone, and are reborn with rebirth skills, summoned guards and cross-class gear. A second rebirth becomes available after the first.
TQ Twin City summarises it in one line, "Reborn: 2 (Warrior, Trojan, Archer, Fire, Water)", which shows that the Taoist counts as two branches in the rebirth list. The Preservation Project and TalesCO also describe two rebirths.
Servers also add their own quality-of-life layers on top of the class system. The Preservation Project lists custom quest chapters, an in-game DPS meter, widescreen support and an optional ninja posture or modern jump style, and says its browser version is in beta and requires WebGPU. Treat features like these as part of the server, not of the class.
| Server | Patch or style | Max level | Rebirths |
|---|---|---|---|
| TQ Twin City | Classic 1.0 or 1.1 | 130 | 2 |
| CO Preservation Project | Patch 5065, custom client | 135 | 2, upgrades beyond +9 unlock at level 130 |
| TalesCO | Classic custom, four classes | 137 | Up to 2nd Reborn, +12 and -7 gear |
| Aurenfall | Classic, Hall of Legends shows level 130 | Not stated | 2, after a CelestialStone trial |
Gear limits matter as much as levels. TQ Twin City lists a maximum plus of +6 and describes its socket rate as hard, while TalesCO ties its caps to tiers that rise up to +12. A class that feels strong on one server can feel weak on another simply because the gear ceiling is different.
Newer patches and extra classes
Later client patches add classes beyond the original four. The listed servers using patches 6159 and 6609 are listed on this site as offering Ninja, Monk and Pirate content, while TalesCO excludes them on purpose: it says it offers "No Ninjas, Monks or Pirates" and only the four the classic era was balanced around.
Classic four versus later patches
Classic (5017 to 5165)
- Four classes: Trojan, Warrior, Archer, Taoist
- Smaller, simpler class balance
- Common on fresh-start and preservation servers such as Aurenfall and Gravak
Later patches (6159 and 6609)
- Adds Ninja, Monk and Pirate as listed on this site
- More systems, and shops that can sell power
- Used by Void Conquer, Dopamine and Ancient Conquer
Some servers also invent their own class lists. Legend Conquer advertises "10 distinct classes" without naming them, which is a reminder that the label "Conquer Online" covers very different games. Read the patch 5065, patch 5095 and late-era 6xxx pages to see which servers match the classes you want.
| Patch family | Typical classes | Example servers |
|---|---|---|
| 5017 and 5065 | Trojan, Warrior, Archer, Taoist | Zephyr Conquer, Aurenfall, Gravak |
| 5095 | Four classes, often with boosted rates | Iron Lotus (50x EXP), Nox Conquer |
| 6159 and 6609 | Four plus Ninja, Monk, Pirate | Void Conquer, Dopamine Conquer |
| Custom | Operator-defined | Legend Conquer (10 classes) |
How to choose a class on a server
- 1
Pick the patch first
The patch decides which classes exist. Use the list pages above to narrow by patch before you read class guides.
- 2
Read the rates
A server with 50x EXP like Iron Lotus changes the early game completely. See understanding server rates.
- 3
Check seasons and restarts
Void Conquer, for example, started a new season in October 2026 and set all gear to +8. Learn about server wipes before you invest hours.
- 4
Ask about class resets
Ask in Discord whether a class can be changed through rebirth, since a rebirth is where most servers let you choose again.
- 5
Use a new account
The Preservation Project asks players to create a separate account rather than use official credentials, which is good practice on any private server.
