Two sets of requirements
Metin2 dates from 2004, but the specs you need depend on which client you install. Gameforge publishes figures for the official game, while private servers ship their own builds that can be bigger, newer in graphics and stricter about Windows versions.
Below are the official numbers, what a sample of private servers state on their own pages, and a short install routine. When you are ready to choose, the Metin2 private server list shows each server's level cap and style.

Gameforge's official specs
Gameforge's Metin2 page lists a Windows-only requirement table. It also describes the game as free to play with five classes and three kingdoms, and says characters can reach level 120. Wikipedia likewise lists Microsoft Windows as the only platform.
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 7 | Windows 10 |
| Graphics memory | 512 MB | 1 GB |
| RAM | 1 GB | 2 GB |
| Storage | 6 GB | 6 GB |
| CPU | Intel Core i3/i5/i7, 2nd generation (2xxx series) | Intel Core i3/i5/i7, 7th generation |
What private server clients say
Most private servers do not publish a spec table. They list a download size, a Windows version and graphics notes instead, which is enough to plan. These are the figures we could read on the servers' own pages.
| Server | Style | Windows | Download and install size | Graphics note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nyxos2 | Classic 2014/15, level 105 | Windows 10 or 11 | About 1.5 GB ZIP, about 1.5 GB extracted | Four classic classes, no Lycan |
| Nappy2 | Own client, level 170 | Not stated | 3.2 GB RAR, 9.4 GB unpacked; button shows about 4 GB | HD textures and DirectX 11 renderer from a July patch |
| Rebellion2 | PvM, level 115 | Not stated | Not stated | DirectX 11 client implementation in recent patch notes |
| ImperiaWorld | Newschool, level 165 | Not stated | Not stated | All graphics options adjustable for modest machines |
The spread is wide: a classic-era recreation such as Nyxos2 fits in about 3 GB, while a custom-client server with high-resolution textures needs far more. If disk space or a slow connection is a concern, a lower-cap server in the oldschool category is a safer first test than a high-cap one in the newschool category.
Official client or private client
What changes when you install a private build
Official Gameforge client
- Published minimum and recommended specs
- 6 GB storage listed
- Level 120 cap on the current page
- Updated by the publisher
Private server client
- Specs usually unpublished; check the download page
- Size ranges from about 3 GB to about 9 GB in our sample
- Level caps from 99 to 170 and beyond
- Updated by the server's own patcher
You do not need the official client to play on a private server. Each one distributes its own files, as explained in our private versus official comparison, and mixing files between servers is a common cause of crashes.
Check your own PC first
Before you download several gigabytes, compare your machine with the tables above. Windows can show everything you need in a minute.
- Press the Windows key, type System Information and note the Windows version, processor and installed memory.
- Run
dxdiagfrom the Start menu to see your graphics card, its memory and the DirectX version. - Open File Explorer, right-click the drive you plan to use and check free space against the archive plus extracted size.
- Update your graphics driver if it is more than a year old, since clients with a DirectX 11 renderer rely on it.
Language packs and in-client tools
Many Metin2 servers are international, so one client often carries several languages and built-in helpers. That is part of why sizes differ. ImperiaWorld says its client is translated into nine languages that you pick at startup, with no separate client needed.
| Server | Languages stated | Tools mentioned |
|---|---|---|
| ImperiaWorld | Nine, switched at startup | Offline shop, switchbot, in-game wiki, auto hunt |
| Avelia2 | Eight game languages | Welcome Guide, auto hunt, switchbot, in-game wiki |
| Mt2Beran | Spanish, English, Portuguese, Romanian, Turkish | In-game wiki, auto-potion, offline shop |
| Crystal2 | Twelve languages | Dungeon info windows, event calendar, shop search |
None of these pages ties a language count to a file size, so we do not claim one. What matters for your PC is the published total, not the feature list. If you only need one language, a server with a small, simple client such as a classic recreation will download faster.
Install checklist
Nyxos2 documents an install routine that is typical of the scene. Other servers differ in details, but the pattern of register, download, extract and patch is the same.
- 1
Register on the website
Note your username, password and any deletion code the site shows you.
- 2
Check free space
Add the archive size to the extracted size. For Nyxos2 that is roughly 3 GB, for Nappy2 more than 12 GB while both the RAR and the unpacked files exist.
- 3
Extract to a short path
Nyxos2 tells players to extract to C:\Nyxos2. Nappy2 asks for WinRAR or 7-Zip to open its archive.
- 4
Run the patcher
Open the server's patcher, choose a language, let updates finish and press Play.
“Use a short path without spaces, otherwise the game will not start.”
Troubleshooting common problems
| Problem | What the server suggests |
|---|---|
| Game will not start | Use a short install path with no spaces (Nyxos2) |
| Antivirus removes files | Nyxos2 says this is a false positive; add the install folder as an exclusion and click Repair in its patcher |
| Archive will not open | Use WinRAR or 7-Zip (Nappy2) |
| Missing updates | Start the patcher and let it download updates (Nappy2) |
| Graphics problems | Nappy2 publishes a patch note on its DirectX 11 renderer and a troubleshooting section |
Picking a server your PC can run
A level 99 or 105 server is the gentlest on a small SSD and an older GPU, because the classic content is limited. PvM-focused servers in the PvM category vary a lot, and PvP-first servers in the PvP category usually weigh gear and bonuses more than visuals. Compare several in the most voted servers, follow the steps in how to join a private server, and use the glossary if a term is new.
